Effect of Pilates Exercises on Stable and Unstable Surfaces on the Functional Balance and Core Stability of Older Women

Background and Aims Balance disorders frequent falling are the important problems in elderly, which is directly related to changes their body structure function. Many studies have been conducted find new safe ways improve balance of elderly. This study aims compare effects Pilates exercises on stable unstable surfaces functional core stability older women. Methods In this quasi-experimental study, population includes all women living private nursing homes, Rasht, Iran. Of these, 36 aged 60-75 years were selected by a convenience sampling method randomly assigned three groups control, surface, surface. The variables assessed using Fullerton advanced test, timed up & go McGill endurance test. Experimental performed for 8 weeks, while control group routine daily activities. Data analyzed one-way analysis variance, t-test Bonferroni’s post hoc significance level was set at 0.05. Results There significant difference between experimental groups; however, there no levels (P>0.05) Conclusion It recommended use or women, especially residents homes with low mobility, achieve personal autonomy.
